Indianapolis Real Estate Brokers Develop Senior Citizen Resources for
Metro Residents
(Indianapolis, IN) October 4, 2005 - Indiana residents age 65+ represent
over 12% of the population in Indiana. One third of the state’s population
is over the age of 45. And, according to statistics from the Indiana Business
Research Center, these numbers will only continue to grow. The U.S. Bureau of
the Census projects an 87% increase in the number of “Baby Boomers”
and seniors in the next 15 years. A new Indiana service (www.SmoothMovesForSeniors.com)
serves that population and their adult children in the Indianapolis region.
The goal of Diana and Ron Beam, founders of SmoothMovesForSeniors.com
is finding the best solutions for maintaining a high quality of life for Indianapolis
Seniors and their families. Diana, a former long-term care administrator, says
that her current work with seniors and their families is focused on preserving
quality of life. Reviewing all options – from aging in place to assisted
living and full-care facilities – will reveal the best options for individual
seniors and their families.
The Census indicates the number of seniors has grown by 3.1 million since 1993
and they now represent one of every eight Americans. The baby boomer generation,
born between 1947 and 1964, is “the largest demographic group now contemplating
its senior years” according to recent government reports.
Dramatic growth for this demographic increases the need for environments that
permit safe, independent lifestyles for as long as possible. The Beams, “RightSizing”
specialists and real estate brokers, wanted to be sure the needs of Indianapolis
area seniors were being met on all levels. They were concerned that senior needs
were taking second place to property decisions when the time came to evaluate
lifestyle options for seniors.
“Senior needs can range from minimal to full-service,” said Ron
Beam, “We launched SmoothMovesForSeniors.com to assist senior citizens
who need help securing ethical maintenance and domestic services as they evaluate
their current home for aging in place. We also help seniors assess other living
options.” The Beams encourage seniors and their families to make long-term
decisions together and to be supportive of each other while they prepare both
physically and emotional for a series of natural changes in lifestyle needs.
“Our goal is helping aging parents and their adult children to reduce
worry, and enjoy life more,” said Diana Beam. “With our resources
and service background, we help people locally, often working with far-flung
adult children who have parents who live locally. It’s hard for the “sandwich
generation” to meet the demands of their own children while worrying about
the needs of their parents. We try to help minimize these modern difficulties.”
Ron Beam said, “Our website is brand new and we continue to add resources
to help our local residents and individuals across the nation to get the information
they need to make (or to help others make) these important decisions.”
